Kilbrittain Parish Church dates to back to the 18th century when the church was dedicated to Saint Patrick, patron saint of Ireland, by Most Rev. Dr O’Callahan, Bishop of Cork on June 10th, 1892.

However, records show that this church is much older than that, even though the church was not built in one stage. The original church must have been erected around 1800 or shortly after that.

Kilbrittain, a faith-based Catholic community, is known around West Cork for its sense of community, hard work and simple but unalloyed faith.

The sense of cheer, joy and peace that permeates Kilbrittain community is often felt in most of its liturgical celebrations. This has made our church to be a place for faith renewal, fraternal support and a beacon of hope for those seeking the face of God.
